Each and every day American citizens and people across the planet earth go out of their way to try and recycle. This is for many reasons, but the most obvious and most surface level reason as to why they do so is to simply protect the environment. Now that people are more aware of their environment and how they have an effect on that environment, there is more activity than ever before in terms of protecting the environment and trying to make it better. One of the ways in which people now do so involves something quite simple, packaging. I know right, packaging. Who would have thought that something so simple could be altered and modified to be better for the environment. There are now reusable clamshell packaging, custom packaging, clam cases, and even thermoformed packaging, that acts to help protect and better the environment that surrounds us. Unfortunately, even though we have come quite a ways in terms of awareness, there are still plenty of people who do not act in a way that is environmentally friendly. It may seem small or insignificant, but buying thermoformed packaging and other types of environmentally friendly packaging can go a really long way to help protect the environment. If you are buying thermoformed packaging or even considering it, here are some things that you should know.

When you make your preferences in terms of packaging, do not be wrapped up in the looks and physical presentation of the package. While it will no doubt be important, it should not be the number one deciding factor for the type of packaging you prefer. Unfortunately for some, the physical presentation of the package is the deciding factor in terms of what types of packaging they want. In the year 2016, West Rock Consumer Insights conducted two different studies that revealed two different sets of information. The first 2016 West Rock Consumer Insights Study gathered data and information that revealed that about 66% of all consumers have tried a new product because of the packaging that caught their eye. That first statistic is truly staggering as over half of all consumers will go and try a new product solely based on what the packaging looks like for the product, without any intention of understanding how that packaging may effect the environment. The second 2016 West Rock Consumer Insights Study revealed that 45% of all consumers have purchased a product solely because the packaging was environmentally friendly. It is quite unfortunate that for the majority of all consumers, they care more about the physical presentation of the packaging of a product as opposed to worrying about the best environmentally friendly packaging that could be offered by a business.

Thinking about how your product packaging can effect the environment is very important. We as a society now march toward a consumerism based world in which business such as Amazon are expanding. They now offer so many items that it is impossible to avoid buying and ordering items through these types of services that deliver right to your doorstep. If you are buying round clamshell packaging, a small utility box, safety glasses case, or a shooting glasses case, it does not matter what the time is but what matters is the type of packaging that is offered. The item itself is interchangeable and truly does not matter. Instead, focus on the type of packaging it will arrive in and what that packaging will do to the environment.
