One Necessary Way to Help Wounded Soldiers

Clothing donations for veterans

As a society, it is important for us who are privileged and living comfortably to give back to those who are less fortunate than us. It’s good to imagine how it would feel if we were to have to live the way that many Americans have to everyday. Many charities are available to help people in less fortunate places in life. Many people should recognize the excesses in their lives, and give to charities.

Charities for wounded soldiers are one of the best to give to. Helping our homeless or wounded veterans is incredibly admirable and necessary. Aiding those who fought for our freedom and rights should be a no brainer.

Charities for wounded soldiers often accept money and clothing donations. Monetary donations go towards services for wounded and homeless veterans. These types of donations are accepted at charity service desks, or commonly found online.

Clothing donations are also a smart option. Instead of throwing away clothing, you should always think about donating. There is no reason to dispose of good clothing. 5% of waste from all American homes are textiles. Americans compile a total of 10.5 million tons of clothing and textiles into landfills each year. Clothes that will go to homeless veterans should be clean, no stains, and no rips or great amounts of wear. Otherwise, you can still donate destroyed clothing, but it will be recycled and made into other items.

Look in your closet, if you find items in the back of your closet that you have not worn in over a year, it is time to let it go, and donate it to charity. In fact, if you live in a climate where there are only one or two seasons annually, and you find a seasonal item you have not worn in 6 months, it’s time to donate it as well. Other people, including charities for wounded soldiers, can use it more than you do.

If you do not want to drop off your clothing donations to any local service desk or clothing drop off center, there are always free donation pickup services that will take your old clothes away from your home. This is an easy way to give back to those who are less fortunate, and the wounded soldiers of this nation.

If you consider yourself patriotic, and you love the country you reside in, show respect by donating any way you can to charities for wounded soldiers. You will aid disabled veterans, homeless veterans, and their families in a way that they will never forget.
